1 oz.
Frankincense is an aromatic resin that is formed from the trees of the genus Boswellia. It is formed by tapping the trees, which releases sap that hardens from oxygen exposure. Frankincense is usually harvested in the Middle east, Africa, and Asia. It has a long history of use, dating back thousands of years. It has been used in rituals, medicine, cosmetics, aromas, and has overall played an important role in many cultures. In Traditional Chinese medicine, frankincense is called Ru Xiang and has been used to reduce Blood or Qi stagnation and resulting abdominal pain. In Western herbalism, it may be used to reduce symptoms of or induce menstruation. It is also very commonly used as an incense, and is thought to have calming effects when burned.*
