In Western herbalism, Echinacea, also known as coneflower, is an herb that is widely known for its immune system-stimulating properties. It is also considered to have vulnerary properties and has been used to ease gastritis pain. There are nine species of Echinacea varieties. Modernly, Echinacea is typically used to prevent and alleviate symptoms of colds and flus. Studies suggest echinacea may work by inducing the production of natural killer cells, which are responsible for fighting off infection. It is usually made into an infusion or tincture.*
