In Traditional Chinese herbalism, Coltsfoot is classified as an herb that Clears Hot Phlegm. It has expectorant, antitussive, and demulcent properties. Both Western herbalism and Traditional Chinese medicine hold this herb in high regard as it has been implemented for at least 2,500 years. "Tussilago" is derived from Latin, Tussil meaning cough, and ago to cast away; hence this herb being used most commonly as a remedy for coughs. It may also be employed to anssist other respiratory issues such as bronchitis and asthma. Coltsfoot is usually consumed in a tea, and can also be smoked.*
