Chaparral - Larrea tridentata
In Western herbalism, chaparral is reputed to be an herb that Clears Heat and Detoxifies. It is known to be high in antioxidants, have alternative properties, and contain NDGA (nordihydroguaiaretic acid), which in traditional medicine has been used for its anticancer properties. Historically, It has been used by Native Americans to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and for its anticancer effects. It is a cooling herb with a slightly salty, bitter taste. In some herbal practices, it is used a daily mouthwash to prevent cavities. Chaparral can be taken orally via infusion or tincture.*
