Black cohosh - Cimicifuga racemosa
In Traditional Chinese medicine, black cohosh is categorized as a cooling diaphoretic, and is used to treat prolapsed conditions as well as raise the Qi. Conversely, in Western herbalism practice, it is primarily utilized for its action on the liver and antispasmodic properties. It also has emmenagogue, diaphoretic, and alternative properties, which are used in many herbalist practices to treat rheumatic and arthritic issues. Black cohosh has a bitter-sweet taste; traditionally, the root is boiled in water and drank as a tea to receive its benefits.*
